More than 20,000 signatures put question on ballot that could increase number of county commissioners 

Douglas County voters will decide this fall whether to increase the number of county commissioners after a local initiative gathered enough signatures to put the question on the November ballot.  

For the past several months, a petition has circulated throughout Douglas County asking residents if they would like to have the choice to decide if the number of county commissioners should increase from three to five. 

As previously reported, the campaign stemmed from a citizen-led effort that described itself as aiming to bring more representation and accountability to the board of county commissioners and meet the demands of a growing county.
